Our second graders in classroom 204 became scientists today!
They designed and tested their first glue recipe, learning all about materials, testing, and improving their ideas. Sticky science at its best!

Students at Pettigrew have been working incredibly hard to become strong, confident readers through the Lexia Core Reading program!
As students meet and pass their reading levels, they get a special trip to the office to have their picture taken with the principals—and then their photo is proudly displayed on our Lexia Wall of Legends!
Our students are building powerful reading skills, and we love celebrating their dedication and success.
Just look at all of the LEGENDS on our wall—we couldn’t be prouder!
As we get back into daily routines following a long winter break, it’s nice to break up our days with special visitors and school assemblies at Pettigrew.
RHS visited for a PBIS assembly. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue spoke with students about fire safety. The Great Plains Zoo brought a few special guests for kindergartners to get up close and personal with. Our school Resource Officer stopped to checkout lunch and visited a few students!
There is always something happening at Pettigrew to keep our students engaged and learning.
Friday, January 23, 2026, will be a Remote Learning Day in the Sioux Falls School District!
iPads and Chromebooks were sent home with each student earlier today. We will not have in-person learning in the schools, but students are expected to connect to their Canvas account from home for assignments and learning resources. They have practiced this at school and know what is expected of them.

Our library staff works diligently to spark a love of reading, engage students, and help them discover new adventures within the pages of their books. From recommending the perfect story to creating a welcoming space for curious minds, they make the library a place where imaginations grow every day!
First grade is starting a new unit in math beginning with measurement. They used nonstandard units to measure things around classroom 103. Including Mrs. Breske's morning coffee! 😂
Holiday Spirit Week for students is next week! Get your attire ready!! Students are also working on earning 12,000 PAWS tickets this month. Their reward will be popcorn with their PJs on Friday! Students earn PAWS tickets for being Positive, Accountable, Wise, and Safe.
Every afternoon, these awesome 5th graders from Mrs. Mailey’s class stop by K04 to listen to kindergarteners read their UFLI passages. 🥰📘 We love seeing big kids support little readers and help them soar on to new UFLI levels!!
